Learning from Tokuhama in her book 'Five Pillars of the Mind' that
"Context helps learning. Things learned in a vacuum with little context are hard to remember. Authentic learning contexts, in which the student easily relates new learning to something he is already familiar with, are more memorable, and therefore learned faster with better recall than information without context (Herrington et al., 2014). And the lack of authentic context might explain, in part, why so many kids appear to misunderstand basic notions in science."
Her insight helps me to understands why using the "Thematic Approach" can be effective when teaching new vocabulary, additionally when theme's related words are explicitly taught the brain is trained to seek out patterns of 'categories' which is 'one of the pillars of the mind'.
Putting this insight into practice, the design of R.O.W.'s base template has been crafted to be generalised across contexts. Allowing pluggable contextualised and individualised behavioural skill-set to be taught within a familiar mental model.
