Pencil Grip example of low tech AT!
"Low Tech AT"

AT is any device or system that improve, enable or prevent deteriorating functions of a person who faces challenges in performing a task that is usually easily achievable by a typical individual.

AT has seven categories and is further classified into three levels namely Low-Tech, Mid-Tech and High-Tech. In the selection process of AT it is important to consider the "AT Continuum" which is the sophistication of the AT vs the complexity of the task. For example, when choosing a "Hi-Tech AT", considerations would include the initial capital cost, the amount of training required as the task may be more complex if the maintenance is high and if difficult to use will it have a high chance of abandonment.

"Person-Technology match"

Additionally, another important point to take note of besides ensuring an appropriate "person-technology match", we are reminded to be mindful of our empathy to the person using the AT. Beside seeking understanding on their feeling about the use of the AT also need to check if they feel "socially comfortable" when using it.
