An "e-flash card" designed primarily for teaching of new vocabularies or practice of automaticity of word reading; with ease of inserting pictorial support. Usages are limited only if creative imagination ceases!
SMF is an "e-flash card application" that is developed on Microsoft PowerPoint to be executed as a slideshow. Teachers could use this when practising for "automaticity of words reading" as well as introduction of new words or phrases during small group or with single student withdrawal session.
In addition of taking advantage of PowerPoint's inherent functionalities in integrating audio/visual in slideshows presentation, the design concept of SMF is to gamify the "Flash-card" and "One-minute Dash" strategies.
SMF has the capability to allow teachers to keep track and record the "number of words read incorrectly" by individual students within the small group session. Teacher can then readily and immediately review to practise those challenging words with each of the students individually or as a group at end of the session.
The visual "Count-down Timer" and monitoring on "Number of Words Read" correctly provide students a sense of excitement, motivation, focus and thus better engagement.
