TTS is an assistive technology that reads digital texts aloud to its user. It is widely available on computers and mobile devices as a configurable features. Alternatively there are many installable softwares or apps that can be Googled and choose from.
Microsoft had TTS make readily available as a standard feature in its "Edge" browser naming it intuitively as "Read Aloud". This allows many struggling readers to have ready access to digital texts with a multisensories experience.
Students with reading disabilities who have taken advantage of this function, have been more self-directed in their learning. Their desires and enjoyment of reading increases with decrease of cognitive loading as they need not focus on decoding printed text but on comprehending the contents instead.
There are also many free online "Text to Speech" conversion web sites that provide the converted texts as downloadable .MP3 audio files. These files could then be used as additional means of access to the content for students learning other then relying on just printed text.
